businesses

We give training to corporate, retail and all kinds of businesses on how to address diversity when it comes to employees, colleagues and clients/customers. This includes how to address people when you are not sure of their gender as an example and what policies should be implemented to ensure comfort and ease for all. Although you may have the best intentions and want to treat eveyone respectfully and fairly you might not understand something and that can cause fear of saying or doing the wrong thing.

Safe Spaces addresses such issues and more.

Training sessions are usually about an hour but it depends on the size of the group and if there are a lot of questions. We encourage open conversations and we are there not only to teach but also to listen. We help you, as an orgnization, to create and maintain safe, comfortable and inclusive environments for all. We help to tailor company policies that align with the South African constitution. We also guide as to how to make any client forms or employment questionnaires etc at your establishment inclusive. We also guide employees on correct HR procedures to follow when making changes to name, pronouns etc, this can be done through private consultation. Basically we support individuals in their “coming out” at work process and give informative training as part of our program for others to better understand.

We can also direct people to other resources such as support groups, counsellors, even beauty therapists for waxing, electrolysis, nails etc. (Please see our “Additional Resources” page for these various services and please reach out to us if in need of a service we don’t have listed, we will help!)  We can also advise on the legal process with Home Affairs to do name and gender marker changes on ID documents and passports and the Licensing Departments procedure for details for your driver license change etc.

Our training is tailored around your organization’s specific needs and can form part of other change management programmes.
